 Pastoral Staff

Eric Johns - Senior Pastor

Eric grew up in a loving missionary family and came to know Christ as a young boy.  He graduated from Biola University in 1998, married Amy in ‘99, and enjoyed working with youth for four years in Eastern WA. Eric and Amy moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in the summer of 2002 and now have 3 kids: Aiden, Elinor, and Augustine. Eric and Amy are passionate about discipleship, family, and the word of God. Eric also enjoys motorcycles, hunting, basketball, cross country skiing, reading, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Adam Pivec - Associate Pastor of Christian Education

Adam was born in the mid-west but spent his teen years on the east coast. He heard the gospel from many people over many years, but it didn't sink in until he heard it from a “crazy” street preacher during his time at college. He surrendered his life to Christ in 1990.

Through and after college, he had the honor of working with a variety of missions groups, spending three years teaching English in Japan and four and a half years distributing Christian media to countries in west Africa and eastern Europe while living in the UK.
Eventually God lead him back to the US—to sunny southern California where he met his lovely and godly wife, Holly. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Talbot School of Theology in 2008.
Adam and Holly moved to Fairbanks in 2009, where they have been happily living with their two healthy and energetic daughters as Adam serves as one of Bethel’s pastors.

Josh Cavallo - Associate Pastor of  Worship and Connections

Josh grew up in Yakima, WA, and attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he met and married Julie in 1998. Josh responded to a call to full time Pastoral ministry in Seattle, then moved back to Yakima in 2004 with Julie and their twin daughters, Amaryllis and Jubilee.  While serving as the Worship & Arts Pastor at West Side Baptist Church, Josh and Julie welcomed James and Daisy to their family. They homeschool their 4 kids, and enjoy many fun family traditions, such as donut Fridays, gelato Mondays, camping and hiking.  They are excited to be a part of our church family and learn the ropes of life in Alaska.

Mark Holmes - Associate Pastor of Youth

Mark has spent most of his life living in Fairbanks, Alaska since he moved up here when he was 4.  After leaving to go away to Western Baptist College for a few years, Mark returned with his wife Diana to make Fairbanks their home.  He has been helping with the youth group at Bethel since 2005 and since then has transitioned from volunteer to intern to Youth Pastor.  It has been incredible to see God’s plan unfold as he now leads the same youth group he was once a student in.
Mark and Diana have two high energy little girls that keep their lives busy and entertaining.  Mark is a passionate sports fan and an avid indoorsman.  He is a videogame nerd at heart but doesn’t get to play as much as he used to.  When he can find the time Mark enjoys training for and competing in marathons and triathlons.

Daniel Schubert - Youth Ministry Assistant
Daniel grew up only an hour south of Fairbanks, in the small town of Nenana, Alaska. Growing up in a small rural Alaskan town, Daniel grew very close with his family who taught him about Jesus from a young age. Although he was brought up in this Christian culture it was not until Daniel was in middle school that he chose to become a Christian himself.
In his early high school years Daniel began volunteering his summers at Camp Li-Wa, in Fairbanks.  This is where he not only continued to grow in his faith but also felt the call to go into full time youth ministry. Daniel graduated in May 2012 from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a degree in youth ministry and in August 2012 was hired as Bethel's Youth Ministry Assistant. Daniel's main duty is overseeing the middle school ministry at the church, but also assists and leads in the high school. Daniel also enjoys reality television, all things Nintendo, and a good cup of coffee
